New season at camera club

By Surrey and Hants News in Arts

Alton Camera Club, which is 60 years old in 2017, starts its new season at a new venue - Holybourne Village Hall - on September 13 at 7.30pm.

The programme of events, designed to appeal to both beginners and experienced photographers of all ages, includes guest speakers, projected digital image and print competitions, practical evenings and workshops.

There will also be several outings, allowing members to photograph various local events and places of interest.

Paul Dunmall will be the first guest speaker, on September 20. His presentation ‘Speed and Motion’ will reflect his interest in motorsport, but he also enjoys taking portraits and photographing a variety of other subjects.

On October 11, Tony Cross - who has produced several publications on the history and people of Alton and its surrounding villages - will give a presentation on ‘Photography in Alton’.

The club meets every Wednesday at 7.30pm from September until April, excluding the Christmas, new year and Easter holiday periods.

Anyone interested in getting the best out of their camera, learning about image composition and improving their processing skills is welcome.

Non-members can attend up to three meetings free before deciding whether to join the club, although they are charged £5 if there is a guest speaker.

This will be deducted from the annual membership fee of £42 (£21 students) should they later choose to join.
