Mayor meets busy bees

There was a buzz of excitement at St. Andrew’s School this month when the Mayor of Farnham dropped in for a visit.

The children had been learning about the importance of bees and wrote letters to Farnham in Bloom to share what they had discovered. As a result, some of the children have been invited to take part in the 2017 Farnham in Bloom video.

On the day of filming, beekeeper and Mayor of Farnham, Cllr Mike Hodge visited the school to give a talk and to present the children with some bee-friendly plants.

Cllr Hodge said: “I talked to the children about bees and beekeeping and showed them my beekeeper’s suit. I asked them lots of questions to test their knowledge and they asked me lots of questions in return.

“I was really impressed with the children’s knowledge and enthusiasm for bees and how much they care about the environment.”

The Farnham in Bloom video will be available next month on Farnham Town Council’s Facebook page @Farnhamofficial and will be shown to the South and South East in Bloom and Britain in Bloom judges.
