Woman left devastated by theft of jewellery

By Surrey and Hants News in Crime

A woman in her 90s was left devastated after sentimental jewellery, including her gold engagement ring, was stolen during a break-in at her house in Farnham last week.

The burglary happened sometime between 11am and 12.20pm on Tuesday, May 23, at a property in Adams Park Road, near Farnham Park.

Cash and several items of jewellery were stolen including brooches, a silver neck chain with an opal pendant, a gold ring with ruby clusters, a gold ring with four small amethyst stones and a gold engagement ring with small clear stones given to the victim by her late husband during the Second World War.

PC Mike Patey said: “Devastated is really the only word to describe how the victim is feeling right now at the loss of these hugely sentimental items. The lady desperately wants her engagement ring back and we would urge whoever took it to search their conscience, do the right thing and return it.”
